The ultimate aims of our cross-cultural studies are:
To compare the rhetorical strategies employed by researchers to publish empirical RAs in international English-medium scientific journals versus Spanish-medium scientific journals, with a particular focus on text segments expressing critical comments on previous and current research.
To make our results available to researchers so they can observe and compare Spanish and English writing features as used in specific sections and communicative functions within the RAs of our corpora across selected knowledge areas.
To pave the way for developing practical resources and courses in English for Research Publication Purposes specifically tailored for Spanish researchers, grounded in our cross-cultural findings.
Additionally, we aim to achieve these goals in a manner that:
Aligns with our critical pragmatic approach
Produces valid and reliable analyses
Provides practical advice to our target users
